Welcome to Tuscany! All of the tours below are conceived as day trips by sedan or minivan from Florence though they can start from anywhere in the region, just let us know where you are when you book. Depending on where you are staying, you might be able to include different places on the tour so Lauren will work with you to put together the itinerary that suits you best! Full Day Art, Wine & Food Tour of Chianti Classico

The incredible history of Florence isn’t only confined to her artists and architecture but extends to the development and preservation of culinary excellence in the Tuscany region. Immerse yourself in the best of Tuscan wine and food on this full day experience in the world famous region of Chianti just south of Florence. We’ll take care of all the bookings so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the ride (and the tastes!).

Start off with a visit to a working dairy farm in Chianti to see how they make their award winning cheese and meet their sheep! Then stop in a medieval village on your way to lunch to see a fresco of The Last Supper by Ghirlandaio (first teacher of Michelangelo) and then feast at the famous rockstar butcher of Panzano (unless of course you are vegetarian in which case we have other options – just let us know). Relax in the afternoon at a beautiful winery to try a selection of Chianti Classico wines with a view over the rolling hills.

This tour is great for couples or families with kids. You can book this tour with a driver or with a driver and a guide.

Taste of Chianti Classico Half Day Tour

On this half day tour of Chianti, you’ll get a taste of what makes Chianti such a special region in Italy. We will stop at one winery for a full tasting of Sangiovese grapes and from here the options are up to you to choose between one of the following before your driver takes you back to Florence!

  • Go on a tour of a local dairy farm to see how they make award winning sheep’s milk cheese
  • Tour a winery & tastings
  • Visit the town of Greve in Chianti to stop at a butcher and try a tasting of salamis or try some more wine

Meet the Winemakers and get to Know Chianti

If you’re interested in getting to know more about Tuscany’s famous wine, this is the tour for you. We’ll be going to off the beaten track wineries where you’ll meet the winemakers themselves and get a personalised experience that focuses on what goes into making Chianti Classico different and special at each location. At the first winery, we’ll discuss how altitude, aging, soil composition and biological wine making practices all affect the grape at a winery that doesn’t even release it’s wines until its been five years in the barrel.

After lunch, you’ll head to a really special and off the beaten track location to taste wine straight from the barrel that you’ll then compare to wine that has been bottled and aged. You’ll try Sangiovese in the form of Chianti Classico but also in the form of a stripped down white / rose version, essentially made with just the whites of the grape that have been in contact with the skin for only a few hours.

You’ll spend a bit more time in the car on this tour but it’s worth it!

Tuscany between Rome & Florence

Instead of taking the train between Rome and Florence, hire a private driver instead so you can stop at interesting places along the way and turn your travel day into an exploration day. Or better yet, stay somewhere beautiful in Chianti for a few days. We could arrange a driver to pick you up in Rome for example and drop you off at the perfect Bnb in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. When you’re ready to go to Florence, we’ll send a driver from Florence to pick you up. Comfortable driving in Italy? You can do the same thing with a rental car and have the freedom to explore the whole area of Tuscany. Don’t miss this special part of Italy because the logistics seem too complicated, I’ll walk you through it!

Talk to Lauren about what you’d like to see when you book so you can arrange the perfect excursion.
